Part
of Staalplaat's ongoing Muslimgauze archive series, "Sycophant of
Purdah" was submitted in 1994 then “replaced” by another master Bryn
Jones felt more fit for release. "Sycophant" then languished in the
vaults until present, nearly a decade after Jones' passing. Despite
being of the same sub-genre as the old-school Industrial stylings of
"Zealot", "Blue Mosque" etc, "Sycophant" could be considered a 'missing
link' that ties them together - with ethno-breaks added for variance.
None of the track listings, handwritten by Jones, are repeated on any
other release, hence "Sycophant of Purdah" is a must have for fans and
collectors. Text by Ibrahim Khider, author of “Muslimgauze: Chasing the
Shadow of Bryn Jones". Ltd x 700 copies in a digipak.
Aqua Dorsa is a new musical Italian ambient project formed by Enrico Coniglio and Oöphoi.
Their first work “Cloudlands” is a perfect mix of glitch, classical and
orchestral glacial ambient soundscapes. Enrico Coniglio is a guitar
player and composer, with releases on Touch, Crónica and
Psychonavigation Records. Gianluigi Gasparetti better know as Oöphoi
started his own music experiments in 1995, trying to explore the shores
of deep space-ambient. Oophoi uses traditional instruments as synths
and sampling machines and his music is recorded using analogue only
devices. Digipak.
Necro
Deathmort (Matthew Rozeik / AJ Cookson) raise their ignoble heads on
their first proper release. Running the full gambit from jittering,
skuttering brutal electronics, Earth-style drones, creamy hiss,
turntablist noise pedal effect antics, crushing guitars, elegant
ballroom atmopherics, to full-on, balls-out, full decaying,
post-apocalyptic doom, this combines analogue and digital noise to
devastating effect. Comes in a fantastic 6-panel package printed at
Thumbprint Press and with utterly superb artwork by Dominic Hailstone
(Mogwai, Isis etc). Limited to 500 copies!
The
new release in the series commemorates Heilige Feuer 6 festival which
