This year's frozen winter brought cold into the womb of this new Slovak Dark Ambient project - a horrifying, deeper and darker form of Slovak terror! This mystical project, in which the protagonist combines beautiful moods with destruction, combines deathly atmosphierics with deep space textures, covered in a veil of mystery. The soundtrack for a movie in another time and place... for cleansing the soul or looking into an imaginary world to escape from reality. This already legendary 2009 album from Finnish Power Electronics / Noise pioneers Bizarre Uproar (now in their 17th year of existence) was originally issued in an edition of just 200 copies on Filth & Violence. This is the 2nd 2010 edition, now on the notorious Freak Animal label. The 43 minutes of music and the disc is exactly the same and the cover is the same artwork now modified to fit into a standard 4-page jewelcase.

Following their acclaimed "Great Bringer Of Night” demo, and following the destruction and debauchery they left in the wake of this year’s SXSW (where Coffinworm caused quite a fuss), "When All Became None” is a blasphemous testament to the downfall of humanity. A diabolical offering where demented amplifier worship sludge doom and black metal form an unholy alliance to offer an album which literally sounds like death, doom, and destruction, and is inspired by imminent death, poser disposal, and the destruction of Christ. A sonic ritual to invert 2000 years of Christian teaching in a 45-minute span.

Contagious Orgasm's 3rd tape release (SSSM, 1989) presents 2 long tracks coming in at around 45 minutes of playing time. Excellent experimental industrial sounds by the Japanese cult band. Those who heard the previous two tapes re-issued by Industrial Recollections, can't go wrong with this one! "I highly recommend headphones, alternatively listen though speakers at loud volume. Following the acclaimed debut album "Reflejos del Sol" (2004, Divine Comedy Records), Der Arbeiter release their second opus, "Holzwege". Ten songs conceptually inspired by the work of Chilean writer Miguel Serrano, and his conception of Minne ("a love at once illicit and morally elevating, passionate and disciplined, humiliating and exalting, human and transcendent"). In musical terms, Holzwege is an alchemical mix of electro-folk with a slight mediterranean taste, which gives it a unique and distinctive sound that moves away from the well known clichés of the neofolk-martial scene. An original and inspiring work, made in Chile, arising from the ruins. Digipak. Polish import.

An hommage to the golden era of horror movies. Our two fiends wanted to conjure up blood-curdling and haunting soundscapes, playing with unsettling ambiances in order to create a contemporary soundtrack for those who like to be frightened. Philippe Petit is interested in soundtracks, even if he creates original music he'd rather be introduced as a "musical travel agent" than a composer. James Johnston is the singer, multi-instrumentalist, and founding member of influential UK band Gallon Drunk. He also plays with Krautrock legends Faust and was a member of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds from 2003-2008, (originally touring with the band in 1994). Ltd x 1000 copies in a beautiful full colour gatefold sleeve with a printed inner sleeve.

This Swedish Dark Ambient sound sculptor (who has already shown his mettle as a member of IRM) has also released albums for such noted labels as Malignant Records, Autarkeia and Segerhuva. "Fragile Confrontation" finds Eric Jarl looking back into the sparse, cold isolationist landscapes of "Sealed Void", while instilling an undercurrent of impending violence, like a blade slowly moving toward flesh in tense, scraping frame-by-frame action. Metallic drones and static waves slide against each other as the confrontation between steel and skin comes to a mind-numbing collision. Mastered by Peter Andersson (Raison D'Etre).

The debut album from Kaiten, the collaborative project of Erik Jarl (IRM, Jarl) and Lirim Cajani (Institut, Operativ Permanent). As would be expected from an alliance of these two Swedish artists, Kaiten is a foray into dark, dense, and superb harsh electronics. Taking their name from the infamous Japanese manned torpedoes, a submarine counterpart of the Kamikaze planes of WWII, Kaiten submerges the listener in a world of claustrophobic, shuddering tension. Distorted echoes of mayhem resonate against the hull of a steel coffin speeding toward certain destruction. Grating, shouted vocals, radio intercepts, and bombastic rhythms are crushed together to represent an inevitable fiery death and a hero's grave in the cold, crushing depths of the Pacific Ocean, all in the name of imperious glory. Lark Blames was founded in 2005 by Lloyd James (Naevus) and Marc Blackie (Sleeping Pictures). While the initial recordings collected on their acclaimed debut album "Chimney" (Old Europa Cafe, 2006) are improvisatory in nature, the new body of work on their second, "The Reins of Life", constitutes a far more considered and assured collection. The album represents a significant step forward for the duo, who continue to defy categorisation while producing their most masterful and accessible work to date. Live drums and bass provide driving rhythms, alongside brass, acoustic guitar and programmed percussion. Aleatory techniques collide with atmospheric layers, musique concrete meets retro synth textures and the familiar Lark Blames lunacy make an appearance too. 6-panel digipak. Polish import.

MARTIN BLADH - 'Study For A Theater Of Cruelty' CD (Annihilvs) - £11 / £12 / £13

This is the much-anticipated solo release by the genius frontman of Swedish industrial legends IRM. A limited vinyl reissue for just about the most scarce release from the legendary Broken Flag catalogue (BF2). Originally released as a cassette back in early 1982, 'Violence' is a solo recording carried out by Gary Mundy (Ramleh, Skullflower, Toll). These recordings were captured just before the formation of Ramleh, and his later solo workings as Kleistwahr. Simple, crude and effective Power Electronics created with the same equipment that would be used on those later classic recordings. 'Violence' is an obvious template for those later works and is as uncompromising as anything that followed. A chilling historical artifact that can still wipe the floor with most of today's pretenders. As the master tape for this recording has long gone, this album was dumped down from an original cassette copy and is both raw and untreated, just as you would have heard it had you brought the tape back then. Ltd x 200 copies and is housed in an ink-stamped sleeve. ACT FAST!!!

"Mankind Spree" is the latest solo album by Tabata Mitsuru (Acid Mothers Temple, Zeni Geva), which is every bit as good as one may expect from an artist who has the power and vision to soundtrack time folding in on itself whilst simultaneously pushing the psychedelic envelope into realms where melodies, static white crackle and overflowing rivers of electronics converge like the very points where sanity opens its welcoming hands to madness. Featuring several guests, including Acid Mothers Temple's synth player, Higashi Hirosh, "Mankind Spree" comprises seven cuts that cough 'n' splutter over angular rhythms, suck up noise as colourful and beautiful as a perfect rainbow, hit back with some melodic scree and never stray too far from Tabata's keen ear for those rather more avant-strained sensibilities.
